Geographic Information Software ESRI ArcGIS and ArcView Georgia College & State University is participates in the University System of Georgia ESRI site license for ArcGIS 9.2, provided by the Information Technology Outreach Services at the University of Georgia. ArcGIS and ArcView are installed in Rm. 122 and 124 at Information Technology Center (Library lower floor), and in the instructional lab in A&S 255. The campus contact for the site license is Dr. Doug Oetter. If you would like ArcGIS installed on your GCSU computer, contact SERVE to make a work order request. Launch ArcGIS through Start/Programs/ArcGIS/ArcMap. The Geography faculty conduct ArcGIS training sessions for faculty and staff once a semester. Please email Doug Oetter if you have specific questions regarding the implementation or usage of ArcGIS. The ArcGIS Task List will help you with common procedures. ArcView 3.3 is also supported by the ESRI site license. This is older software, but it is still very capable and easy to use. It is also installed in the Information Technology Center rooms 122 and 124. You may want to examine these ArcView Tips and Tricks.
Leica ERDAS Imagine GCSU also participates in the University System of Georgia's Leica GHEAK site license. Currently we have 10 licenses of ERDAS Imagine available across campus. This software is used to display, process, and analyze raster images such as aerial photography, digital orthophoto quadrangles, and satellite imagery. The software is installed in the Information Technology Center and the Arts & Sciences instruction lab. If you would like a copy of Imagine installed on your computer, please contact SERVE.
