GCSU Geographic Research Center
The GCSU Geographic Research Center provides an important component of both student education and community service.  Students and faculty are involved in solving critical local problems while working to develop their geospatial skills and knowledge.  The depth and range of these projects demonstrates the value of the GCSU Geography Program to the local region and beyond.

While undergraduate education remains the cornerstone of the GCSU Geography Program, an active research agenda is essential to the mission of our university and our department.  Research is the foundation of the academic world, and our faculty and students are actively engaged in research as a means of instruction and advancement.  Please see our research web links for more information on the world of geographic research.

Local Research and Service
GCSU Geography students and faculty have contributed hundreds of hours toward research projects in service of the local community.  A few of the beneficiaries of this work include:

Other Research Projects
The GCSU Geographic Research Lab is also involved in several geographic research projects outside the immediate area, including:

  • Georgia's Rivers
  • Ocmulgee River Floodplain Mapping
  • Pacific Northwest Ecosystem Research Consortium
  • Land Cover Change in the BioBio River Basin, Chile
  • Impacts of Globalization in Salta, Argentina
